Attention Activated

For when you know exactly what you need to focus on, and you keep ending up somewhere else.

You open the doc. You think about the first line. And suddenly the dishwasher really needs emptying. Then there's a Slack message. Then something you meant to look up. An hour later, the doc is still open and still blank.

"Distracted" doesn't really cover it. It's the starting and stopping. It's cycling through the smaller tasks because they feel doable. It's not being able to say why you can't begin, or why you lost the thread once you did. And for a lot of us with spicy brains, there's a layer of frustration and self-criticism on top of all of it.

This isn't a willpower problem. Something specific is getting in the way, and once you can see it, you can work with it.

When distracted doesn't cover it

What this is

Attention Activated is a short, focused coaching package for one project, task, or area that keeps slipping away from you.

We figure out what's actually pulling you off course, build a strategy that fits how your attention works, and then (this is the part most plans skip) we adjust it once you've tried it in real life.

Because making a good plan isn't enough. No plan survives its first encounter with reality. That first real-world test is where you learn what actually needs to change.

How it works

1. One 50-minute session We look at the pattern, not just the to-do item. What happens when you sit down to work on this? Where do you end up instead? We name the real obstacle and build a strategy designed for your brain, not a generic productivity system.

2. Two weeks of follow-up support You take the strategy into your actual life. When something works, great. When something breaks down, you send me a quick voice or video message, and we figure out what happened and adjust. No second call to schedule; the support fits around your real week.

You'll leave with

  • Clarity about what's actually getting in your way

  • A clear sense of what to focus on first

  • A strategy set up to work with your attention, not against it

  • A plan that's been tested and adjusted in real life, not just written down

This is a good fit if

  • You have a specific project, task, or area that you keep getting pulled away from

  • You've tried "just focusing" and it hasn't stuck

  • You want to understand why this keeps happening, not just get a new to-do app

  • You're willing to experiment and tell me honestly how it went

You don't need a diagnosis to work with me. Many of my clients are ADHD, autistic, or AuDHD, and many simply know their brain works differently.

This probably isn't a good fit if

  • You're looking for therapy, a diagnosis, or crisis support

  • You want someone to take over the project for you

  • You're looking for a long-term coaching relationship (see What comes next below)

From my work

I recently worked with a busy professional juggling a ton of competing tasks on an important project. Their attention kept getting snatched by the question of what to prioritize in each moment. We got everything out of their head, sorted out what really needed focus first, and they left with criteria and trigger to use to keep that prioritization working over the next two weeks.

They later told me it was "very, very, very helpful," and that they still use it by asking themselves, "What would Becca say to do?"

That's the goal: not to make you dependent on me, but to help you build a way of thinking you can take with you.

FAQ

What happens in the follow-up? After our session, you try the strategy in your real life. Over the next two weeks, you can send me voice or video messages (in slack or MarcoPolo) about what's working, what isn't, and where you got stuck. I'll respond with troubleshooting and adjustments.

Will this fix my focus? No, and I'd be suspicious of anyone who says they can. Your brain isn't broken, so there's nothing to fix. What we can do is figure out what's getting in the way of this specific thing and set things up so it's easier to come back to.

Can I use this for more than one project? This works best with one focus area. If you have several, we'll use the initial session to figure out which one needs attention first. That sorting is often part of the work.

Do I need to be neurodivergent? No. This is built with ADHD, autistic, and AuDHD brains in mind, but it works for anyone whose attention doesn't follow the standard productivity playbook.

Some of us love the playfulness and flexibility of the term "neurospicy."

Others feel it dismisses the very real challenges that come with having a brain that works differently.

I use the term because, for me, the metaphor of having several different spices to work with in my mental spice cabinet has been empowering in learning how to work with my brain.

But some of my clients dislike the term, and I respect that. The terminology can flex to fit you.
