Celebrate your strengths, embrace your quirks, and find strategies that work for your unique brain.

Your brain works differently

You're an accomplished professional who has recently realized your brain works differently. It might have been your kids' diagnosis, it might have been something you saw on socials, or it might have been a clinician asking you "have you considered getting evaluated for ADHD / autism / anxiety / PTSD?"

Whatever it was, and whether there's a formal label behind it or not, you’ve realized the way you work comes with ups and downs:

You are praised for skills that just seem normal to you. (I mean really, why don't others spot the patterns that seem perfectly obvious, experience bursts of intense creativity & flow, or have the capacity to notice the 14 ways this business plan will go wrong unless changes are made?)

On the flip side, you sometimes find everyday tasks, like inbox management or teeth-brushing, to be almost impossible. You procrastinate more than you think you should. Sometimes, you open up your phone to do that one work thing & realize an hour later you've done 25 things but aren't sure your original task was accomplished. (What was it again?)

You find the difference between how your mind operates on peak days vs low days to be almost unfathomable -- how is it possible you did two weeks of work in one day last week, but today you can't even get one email written?

You wonder if there's some way to work with your strengths to accomplish what matters most to you, but all the videos, books, articles, & podcasts you keep picking up are not quite working out.

Neurodivergent high-acheivers often think they “just need to push through” the challenges that come with a differently wired brain. This mistake costs energy & time, over & over, because what works for neurotypical minds (what most standard "productivity" advice is based on) usually doesn't work for us.

We need strategies suited to our strengths, rhythms, & sources of energy.

Taking a neuroaffirming approach to executive functioning (planning, decision making, task management, motivation, etc) means you learn how to:

  1. Find out & address your specific root causes of procrastinating

  2. Understand which basic foundations of lasting motivation you may not have enough of, & how to boost them (without exhausting carrots & sticks)

  3. Identify decision-making strategies that cut through the noise & work with both the large & small decisions you get stuck on

  4. Own your attention: set up your environment & mental habits to direct it where you want it to be

  5. Rewrite the story you tell about how your mind works to be one that energizes, rather than drains

  6. Set up simple experiments so you can quickly find what works for you in new situations (without beating yourself up for not being able to do it the "normal" way)

I have ADHD and, as an entrepreneur, often struggle to deal with competing priorities and harsh inner voices. Spicy Brains Get Stuff Done was a real game changer for me, because Becca is deeply skilled at breaking our shared challenges into bite sized, actionable experiments designed to meet the needs of folks with spicy brains. Becca also brings a treasure trove of peer-reviewed research, delivered in digestible and deeply interesting ways. I came away from the course meeting new friends, building new habits, being MUCH kinder to myself, and learning the powerful skill of reframing old stories that no longer serve me. Highly recommend!!
